Adopt The Coral

Is a program to get a fund for the people in LES Village to rehabilitating the coral surround there, with the donor directly involves by adopt a coral. The goals of “Adopt the Coral” project are :

1. Fund rising to be able to continue their coral rehabilitation project.
2. To allow other people to participate and create sense of belonging to their coral farming project.
3. Alternative livelihood to the fishermen rather than catching ornamental fish.
4. Build underwater coral garden for eco diving tourism.

Up till now, the coral rehabilitation was implemented but rather slow. And also there is an underwater coral garden, although in a small size, which lies in about 8 – 9 meters from the shore in the village. And there’s exactly where the corals will be planted.

This program has been running since year 2003, and according to our information, this program is the only one. In this program the donor knows where the money they’ve been donated for and also they can see it anytime they want.

By “Adopt the Coral”, everybody can obviously adopt a coral. To be an adopter you’ll only have to pay a fee once advance for Rp. 165000/US$ 19/SIN$ 30 and fill the adoption form, which it contained with your adopter number, mailing or email address, and number of coral you want to adopt.

After that the group of fishermen “Mina Bhakti Soansari” in Les Village will do the Coral’s staking process. The Staked coral later on will be stick on above the substrate that have been named by the adopter’s name.

The Substrate that have been named and planted coral will be put in to the underwater coral garden and shoot it by camera. The picture of the planted coral on digital version file will be sent to the adopter by email.

This program running by Group of fishermen “Mina Bhakti Soansari”, Yayasan Bahtera Nusantara, and collaborate with Air Diving Academy.
